Unwritten: A Synchronicity on the Beltway
Halloween, Karaoke, Pizza & Book Signing Party!
We are always in conversation with the universe, though most rarely realize it. Sometimes that dialogue comes through dreams, sometimes through people we meet, a sign on the side of the freeway can catch our eye, and sometimes — as I was reminded recently — through a song that plays at exactly the right moment in time.
It happened on an ordinary drive that turned out to be anything but. I was heading downtown to a women’s networking event, taking the familiar Beltway curve toward Highway 59. I still keep a few old CDs in my car — songs I once burned for myself, long before streaming made everything disposable. One of them started to play: “Unwritten,” by Natasha Bedingfield.
The words filled the car like sunlight through a window:
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
I turned the volume up and smiled and I felt awe and joy all over my body. That’s exactly where I am right now, I thought — between what’s complete and what’s about to begin. My new book is finished, and yet in some deep way, I too am the one being rewritten. I played the song 3x as I drove, letting it fill me — as an affirmation from the universe itself.
That evening, I went to my usual karaoke night at Bigs. My friend Gloria met me there, sang four songs, and she left early. I stayed behind, sitting at a small table alone. My other friends waved from the big round table. “Come sit with us!” they called.
I smiled and said, “No, I’m fine here — I’m right next to you all.”
A young man in his mid 20s sitting nearby approached me and asked, “Can I ask you a question?” “Sure,” I said.
“Have you ever been married? I’m afraid to ever get married.”
I smiled and said, “You came to the right table.”
I handed him one of my book postcards that I’d brought along. I explained the 7th House to him briefly — that we all have to learn how to share our energy with someone else consciously in a balanced way.
Then I asked him, “Do you sing anything besides rap?” as he had previously sung a rap song.
“Yes,” he said. “Have you ever heard the song Unwritten?”
Goosebumps rose all over my body. He was next and sang Unwritten.
When he came back to my table, I said, “God sent you over to me tonight to tell me I’m on track with my life’s purpose.”
The synchronicity didn’t stop there.
The very next night, my friend Tammy invited me to go sing at Neon Boots. I met her at Saltgrass on I-10 so we could ride together. About a dozen women were there when we arrived. Two of them got up to sing a sad love song — and I felt prompted to walk over and hand them each my card, telling them about my upcoming book release on my 73rd birthday.
One of them glanced at the card and said, “You do SHADOW WORK?”
“Yes,” I said, smiling. She said, “Cool.”
The very next song they all got up together to sing a group number. Guess what it was? Unwritten.
I was stunned! I recorded them, knowing exactly what the universe was saying. (see a short part of their video below)
These moments are not coincidences; they are messages from the deeper order that Jung called Synchronicity — the meeting of inner and outer worlds through meaning, not cause. (Read 2nd chapter in my book) Astrology is a symbolic syncronistic language of the archetypal world we all carry within us.
The song had followed me from the Beltway to the karaoke bars, from thought to embodiment.
It was the unconscious, the Self’s way of saying: Your book may be finished, but your story isn’t. Keep living the next chapter with arms wide open, the rest is still unwritten! The song carried that message for me twice in two days.
It was a reminder that creation doesn’t end when a book is done. The Work — the real alchemy — continues every day, in our choices, our encounters, and the symbols that find us when we are listening.
When the Other Is You, invites you to learn about yourself and to give yourself to love — the way you came here to love — because each of us is unique and your astrology can show you that. As I see it and teach it, love is the real message of Shadow Work.
This book is my life’s calling — a blend of Jungian psychology, astrology, and the sacred art of shadow integration.

“My favorite part about being an Astrologer is helping my clients become aware of the birth chart as a map of their soul which manifests from day 1. As Jung said, “We are not born tabula rasa, (blank slates).” You will understand this completely when you have a consultation. My goal is always to help you forgive the past and let go. You are in charge of living your individuality in a creative way that is life enhancing, instead of repeating endless patterns and feeling victimized by your fate.” — Re
